    (People forget that John sang at Covent Garden every season from ) John McCormack is for my money the greatest singer on record, and these recordings show why. We have here a varied collection of opera, lieder and art song, Irish songs, and a few high-class popular songs (but I sadly miss the two Pinocchio songs from !)/5(23). Reply

    If you want early McCormack, look to buy the Naxos volumes, which begin, as I recall, around , and are expertly transferred by Ward Marston. Addendum 4/8/ I just received a copy of Marston's 4 CD set of McCormack's Odeons, and these new transfers are vastly superior - actually quite remarkable for pre recordings/5(2). Reply
